At Synthpop, our mission is rooted in expertise. We don’t just build AI-powered healthcare solutions — we build them for the real-world complexities of healthcare and enterprise operations. From day one, DME has been in our DNA — and for the past year, Chip Smith has been at the heart of it.

As we continue to expand our products and services beyond DME, Chip’s leadership exemplifies how deep expertise in one field can translate into broader innovation. He understands the critical connections between diagnostics and DME and is actively building bridges that help our customers navigate and integrate across these domains.

As we mark Chip’s one-year anniversary as Senior Director of DME at Synthpop, we’re proud to recognize both his impressive tenure in the industry and the cross-functional impact he’s made since joining our team in 2024.

From Industry Trailblazer to Synthpop Strategist

With over 30 years of experience in healthcare — and more than two decades specifically in DME — Chip joined Synthpop with strategy and transformation in mind.

“I’ve lived the DME journey from the ground up. I know the grind of intake, the frustration of documentation delays, and the critical role this equipment plays in people’s lives. That’s why I’m here — to drive meaningful change at scale.”

Chip previously served as President and CEO of a leading sleep and respiratory DME company, guiding it through 15 years of sustained growth until its acquisition by AdaptHealth. During his time at Adapt, he broadened his expertise beyond sleep and respiratory care to encompass the full spectrum of DME products. He also gained valuable experience building discharge and continuity-of-care partnerships with both hospital systems and sub-acute care facilities.

“Synthpop isn’t another tech company dabbling in healthcare. Our team understands the DME trenches — and we've built a platform that reflects it. That’s why I joined. That’s why I believe.”

Today, Chip applies that same real-world insight to help shape solutions that solve the daily operational bottlenecks DME providers face at scale — from intake inefficiencies to payer communications and documentation delays.

A Year of AI-Powered Progress

Over the past year, Chip has been instrumental in advancing Synthpop’s enterprise DME strategy. He’s been a voice of the customer within our product and QA teams. With his focus on customer success, we’ve accelerated adoption and effectiveness of our flagship automation tools:

  • Conversational Agent: Engages patients and payers with automated, compliance-ready conversations that improve resupply programs, eligibility verifications, and prior authorizations.
  • Intake Agent: Automates intake and document workflows to reduce manual effort, increase throughput, and ensure faster, more accurate qualification decisions.
“At Synthpop, we’re creating solutions that don’t just boost margins — they give time back to employees, speed up care for patients, and restore sanity to high-volume workflows.”

This anniversary is a reminder of the strategic foundation on which Synthpop was built. DME isn’t just another vertical for us — it’s one of our origin stories.

Ready to Scale Smarter?

If you’re leading a DME organization facing scale-limiting inefficiencies, Chip’s journey reflects what’s possible with the right technology — and the right team behind it.

“We’re just getting started. If you’re in DME and you're feeling stuck, I’ve been there. Let’s build what’s next — together.”

At Synthpop, we’re just getting started. Let’s build what’s next.
